The Spoken Word Church celebrates 42 years of ministry July 2023. The church held its first service July 1982. I would like to share a few thoughts on the past 40 years, as we look forward to the years ahead.
As you travel through your lifetime on planet earth, there are only two specific groups of people you come in contact with, believers and unbelievers; those who believe that Jesus of Nazareth rose from the dead and have received Jesus as their Lord and personal Savior, and those who have not.
We presented Jesus as the great “I AM” of the Old Testament at all four levels; world, national, state and local. We have consistently prayed for people, places, things and events. We have ministered to people in North America, South America, Central America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and the Islands of the world.
We are in the middle of a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will continue to escalate as we approach the Rapture of the Church and the start of the seven year tribulation. Sin has increased in frequency and intensity. The number of believers praying according to God’s Word has grown spectacularly. Holiness is beginning to cover the Body of Christ, evangelism is stronger than ever before, persecution is rapidly becoming commonplace throughout the planet. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is affecting all people in never before seen ways.
We know that man is a three-dimensional being; a spirit who possesses a soul and lives in a body. With the spirit we contact the spiritual realm, with the soul we contact the mental realm and with the body we contact the physical realm.
We have patiently taught that controlling your thought life is the key to controlling your life. When a thought comes to your mind, you have to decide whether it is a godly thought or an ungodly thought. You must resist an ungodly thought and replace it with a godly thought. Once you accept a thought, you will act on that thought. Consistent action develops a habit. A habit will eventually become a stronghold in your life.
What and how you hear and see will determine what you can receive by faith. As you meditate on those things received by faith, you will believe them. When you put words and actions to your belief, you will see godly results.
Unbelief will hinder you from receiving God’s richest and best. There are two kinds of unbelief. One is ignorance of God’s Word. You don’t know, so you can’t act. The cure is knowledge of God’s Word. The second is disobedience. You know what to do but refuse to obey. The cure is obedience.
The vision of the Spoken Word Church has been, and continues to be, to teach and train believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to be bright lights in the world and to the world. As we look forward with expectant hope and eager anticipation to the soon appearing of our Lord Jesus and the Rapture of the Church, we determine to do all that we can do to fulfill that vision.
